Signatories welcomed the decision of the Sardinian regional government to promote the establishment of the Foundation "Sardinian Regional Film Archive," taken with the art. 14 of Regional Law 15 of September 20, 2006, and were grateful that the text of the law had recognized the importance of that for over 40 years the Film Society of Sarda Humanitarian place in Sardinia.
But after the Balance Foundation, approved December 20, 2007, does not recognize and does not result in a clear and defined the role of Service Centre Cultural Humanitarian Society of Cagliari.
In this context, the petitioners note with concern that some cultural and political - well certainly merit being implemented to offer the public an immense amount of visual material, such as Sardinia Digital Library and some projects recently announced, regarding the creation of new cultural institutions - seem to ignore, with an incomprehensible lack of historical memory and in contradiction with the same intentions of the draft Audiovisual Documentation Centre ( det. 834 of 26 April 2006 ), the work carried out in Sardinia from the Company's Film Library Sarda Humanitarian assistance since 1966.
Sarda The Cinematheque has been and remains a vital partner for anyone who has chosen to engage in Sardinia, in all places, on the field of training and organization of the public, the use of audiovisual training, with strenuous work and aimed at the widespread growth of the culture - not just film - in a democratic sense.
Openness to dialogue with the local associations throughout the area and the free offer and continues not only to audio-visual material, but also training in terms of methodology, as well as technical, have always characterized the work of Cineteca sarda e dei Centri culturali della Società Umanitaria in Sardegna.
Tale lavoro ha portato peraltro riconoscimento e stima a livello sia nazionale che internazionale, come mostrano la collaborazione costante con le Cineteche italiane e la presenza della Cineteca Sarda nella FIAF (International Federation of Film Archives).
Il patrimonio audiovisivo, le competenze, le professionalità, le sensibilità che negli anni i Centri di Servizi Culturali della Società Umanitaria hanno formato, sia nel proprio interno che nell'associazionismo di base, costituiscono un bene pubblico che deve essere riconosciuto, difeso e potenziato .
Pertanto, i firmatari del documento auspicano:
- che la Regione si impegni per la costituzione - prevista dalla legge - di una fondazione mista pubblico-privato, per garantire, attraverso l'indispensabile coinvolgimento della Società Umanitaria, il potenziamento e il radicamento di quel servizio pubblico che la 'Cineteca Sarda' ha fino ad oggi offerto ad associazioni, scuole, biblioteche, università e a tutti e tutte coloro che hanno operato con gli audiovisivi per contribuire alla crescita culturale della Sardegna.
